Art and Design Curriculum Intent Statement
At Camp Hill, our ambitious art and design curriculum is designed to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, with the intention of equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
As pupils progress, they will be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design.
The curriculum has been carefully mapped out from the EYFS to Year 6 to ensure the coverage of essential knowledge and skills linked to the National Curriculum.
The Dimensions curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils:
We aim to make sure the subject matter is broad and includes culturally and ethnically diverse artists, including those from our local area. Our children need to understand that art is made by all sorts of people, in a variety of ways, and should feel represented by the art and artists they are exposed to. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
At Camp Hill we consider the needs of learners of all abilities and adapt the curriculum in order to provide equitable access for all our children.
Camp Hill works with partners within our MAT to provide our children with opportunities to learn from specialist teachers, access resources and produce collaborative work.
