Welcome to Geography at Camp Hill
Geography Subject Curriculum Intent Statement
Our Geography education should be fully inclusive to every child. Our aims are to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for Geography; providing a rich, creative and diverse curriculum; ensuring the progressive development of geographical concepts, knowledge and skills; and for the children to develop a love for geography. Furthermore, we aim to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Teaching should equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. Geography teaching at Camp Hill Primary School offers children the opportunity to study a range of topics that investigate the physical processes of our planet, human societies and the economic and environmental challenges within the local, national and global context. This gives students the confidence to interact with the wider world, leading to fulfilled and positive life experiences. The curriculum encourages students to develop their communication skills through to ask questions, develop critical thinking skills, and layer a deeper understanding of complex concepts as the course navigates through the curriculum. Our Geography curriculum works closely with the wider community to enable all to grow and learn.
